You create smoke, you’ll get thrown out
Really, it’s just that simple. Nový Jičín faced Havířov at home tonight, and things didn’t go so well. Both teams played in the second league, just a rung below the Czech Extraliga. Havířov is a hardened coal town in Silesia, while Nový Jičín sits further east in Moravia-Silesia. Respectable hockey places, these are.
Except when things fall apart. In the second period, plums of smoke emerged from the fan section for Havířov’s partisans. It took police nearly an hour to clear them out, after they’d deemed the game had to be played without spectators. What kind of smoke was this? I don’t know. How much of a threat to safety were they? Hmmm.
Are these some serious hockey fans? You betcha.
