farewell, dear hosni

February 10, 2011

Amid the chatter, the clutter and the confusion, it looks like Hosni may be on his way out. A number of conflicting reports have emerged—some declaring Omar Suleiman to be in charge, others stating that the Army will take power. From what we know, Mubarak is slated to make a live (we believe) address to the nation and the world in about 15 minutes. Then, it seems he will step down, this time, for good. The Twitter-world has been all aflutter and it’s unclear what’s happening. Even state TV can’t seem to get it straight. President Obama provided an uplifting proclamation of support for the protesters and a peaceful transition. We will see.

Perhaps there will be a 10th of February bridge years from now.
